Roundtrip from Toronto by rail this exclusive 8 day 7 night tour will feature rail travel roundtrip to the Maritimes and  the heritage of Halifax during the 100 th anniversary of the explosion that rocked this resilient and picturesque community on Canada's Atlantic Coast. Those on the tour will first travel by train to Montreal to overnight here and enjoy a heritage experience in Montreal te following day. The package also includes travel on modern sleeping cars on North America’s oldest name train THE OCEAN to enjoy 4 days & nights in Halifax.  Tour the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic with its large collection of Titanic artifacts and displays on the Halifax Explosion.  Visits to the site of te explosion and  Titanic graves and churches where services were held with author of 1917 HALIFAX EXPLOSION AND THE AMERICAN RESPONSE - Blair Beed.  As well there will be visits to the Citadel, Pier 21, Maritime Command Museum and more.  There will also be a day trip to visit Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg for some great views of the Atlantic coastline before returning to Toronto by train.   Package includes hotel stays for a total of 5 nights, rail trips, transfers, heritage attractions and presentations, some meals, detailed tour information kit and more.

WHAT THE TOUR INCLUDES:

Day 1 – SATURDAY DECEMBER 02, 2017
Mid-morning meet and greet at Toronto’s Union Station before boarding VIA’s corridor service to travel east on the train while enjoying views of Lake Ontario and the region.  Arrive in Montreal and enjoy a special welcome dinner here before enjoying the night in Montreal at a 5 star hotel.

Day 2 – SUNDAY DECEMBER 03, 2017
Today the group will enjoy a heritage expwereince in Montreal.  After our day of enjoying Montreal early this evening we will board the sleeping car accommodation(s) on Canada’s oldest named train “The Ocean” to continue the group’s trip east.  Overnight on the train.

Day 3  - MONDAY DECEMBER 04, 2017
Awake to views of the passing countryside of New Brunswick including the impressive river crossings at Miramichi.  The scenery continues as the train travels through Nova Scotia in daylight arriving in Halifax late this afternoon.  Arriving in Halifax we transfer to one of Halifax’s grandest railway hotels - the Nova Scotian Westin Hotel. Once settled in we plan to have a special east coast welcome dinner before some time to enjoy the nearby Halifax Waterfront.

DAY 4 – TUESDAY DECEMBER 05, 2017
The morning starts with a visit to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic to view this great museum and larger collection of the artifacts from the Titanic and other great displays on the Halifax Explosion, Days of Sail WW II Conveys and more. This afternoon we will learn about the Halifax Explosian by viewing the site where this took place and visit to places like St Patricks Church and other places that were rocked by the explosian with Authour Blair beed.  .  The day plans to end with some heritage of a lighter nature as we tour the Alexander Keith’s Brewery.  Again overnight in Halifax.

DAY 5 – WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 06, 2017
Today those on the tour will have the opportunity to attend memorials on te 100th anniversary of te explosian on the 100th anniversary.  There will also be visits to the Maritime Command Museum, Halifax Citadel and Army Museum and more before again overnighting here in Halifax

DAY 6 – THURSDAY DECEMBER 07, 2017
A full day outside of Halifax in the Nova Scotia countryside begins at Peggy’s Cove and ends in historic Lunenburg. Visit to the Bluenose II rebuild site and other heritage of the town of Lunenburg. Return to Halifax for dinner and again overnight here.

DAY 7 – FRIDAY DECEMBER 08, 2017
The day begins the same way so many new citizens to Canada began with a visit to Pier 21 for a special group tour of this Canadian Historic Site.  Mid-day boarding in your sleeping car space of VIA Rail’s Ocean destined for Montreal. Overnight on the train after enjoying views of the maritimes from the train's dome car. 

DAY 7 – SATURDAY DECEMBER 09, 2017
Morning arrival in Montreal to transfer to the train that will return you to Toronto.
